Smith Wins Bermuda’s Third CAC Games Medal

Bermuda’s Tyrone Smith leaped into medal position at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia, winning a silver medal in the men’s long jump with a leap of 8.03, to mark the island’s third medal win of these Games thus far.

Jamaican Ramone Bailey leaped 8.07m to claim gold, while Andwuelle Wright from Trinidad won the bronze medal with a leap of 7.94m.

Following the competition, the three time Olympian tweeted, “I fought hard and pulled a solid jump out of the depths of what was a mediocre night! 10 years of experience on the pro circuit allowed me to execute in the last round and come away with a silver. I’m highly disappointed but I’m moving in the right direction.”
